Fresh Batch of New Glass

Yeah!!! New glass arrived at my house today!!! That means I will have more beads with different colors! I love new glass!

No Wire Ring!!

Here it is!!! I must say that I really love this ring and the best part about it is that I did not "mess it up" with my horrific wire work!
It's bold, colorful and screams "look at me"!!!

Oh how I wish I could work that darn wire!!

Well here is a fantastic example of why I do not make jewelry :) I had this great idea for a ring, made the beads and then it all fell apart when I actually started the wire work...ya know in my mind it was really much easier LOL. Oh well... here is what I came up with. What I really should have done is had Kristen of MJM Jewelry Designs hook me up with the wire work....she makes amazing rings!! Check them out here!
Anyway, yesterday it occured to me.....why not make the entire thing out of glass. So that is just what I did. I am waiting (very impatiently I might add) for my kiln to cool down.....I will share the pics with you as soon as I get my hands on it :)

This ring now belongs to a wonderful new customer.....hopefully she doesn't laugh too hard when she opens up her package and gets a good look at my wiring ability :) Go easy on me!!

No Beading under the Influence

Hello bead lovers. Today has been a rough one for me. I have not been able to make a single bead...I do have a few to list and I am hoping I will get them up tomorrow on etsy. Why no bead making you ask? Well, it's a long story, but basically I have injured a muscle in my back due to my day job (ultrasound). I have steroids, muscle relaxers and pain pills on board and I don't think it would be a good idea to bead under the influence :) Although come to think of it I could possibly come up with some really cool beads....hmmmm...well and possible some burns...nope think I will wait till I feel better :)
Not to worry though. I will post some eye candy for you to look at instead:)






My Monday Madness Sale turned out alright. I was hoping to move more of my inventory though so there was more room for new goodies. Maybe I will extend it one more day....make it a Gone Crazy Tuesday Sale. Will have to think about it :)

Hi and welcome!! After reading many posts in the addictive forums at etsy, I have finally taken the plunge and started my blog! Let me first start by introducing myself.
My name is Carey. I live in Maryland and by day am an ultrasound tech. At night I completely neglect my family and spend all my time making glass beads. Lampwork beads are handmade glass beads that are created in the flame. I discovered this art about 2 1/2 years ago and have become completely obsessed!
I hope to share my beads here (the good ones and the bad ones) and also I hope to promote other artists from etsy.
Etsy is a wonderful site I discovered a few months ago that is LOADED with amazing artists and crafters! It's a must see...but let me warn you...it's EXTREMELY addictive! You can find just about anything there and the awesome, mind blowing part is that almost everything on there (except for vintage stuff which is also really cool and supplies which frankly are neccessary) is HANDMADE! There are some really talented people in this world and its fun that I can find many of them in one spot. So grab a cup of coffee (or 2) and go check them out!
