Well, it's been forever since I posted....It feels like I have not been here since last summer instead of just November...so much has been going on!

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope that 2010 is full of health, wealth and happiness to you all. I also want to send out a huge THANK YOU to all my customers ...It has been so wonderful getting to know you over the years and I could not continue to do what I love to do if it were not for all of you!!

There have been alot of changes with my company during the past few months....and I have decided to change my company name and branding...it is still a work in progress but I think the changes are for the better and I hope you like them! I have started work on a new blog ...no posts there yet, but hopefully I will get it started as soon as I get organized! I also have a website that I have been working on and will soon have a new etsy shop...this way everything is congruent and hopefully less confusing! My company name is Fontenot Glass Designs and I have a whole bunch of great ideas floating around in my head...now I just need to find the time to work on those great projects!
Due to the high demand from my local customers I have branched out into jewelry making ....I have resisted it for some time, but am actually starting to enjoy wearing my beads lol!! I am also hoping to start a chandelier line with my beads....but that is all I am going to tell you about that for right now -- I want it to be a surprise :)
I am hoping to get my rear back in gear making bead sets aswell, so I will still have my sassystoppers etsy shop...right now it is very pathetic because I only have one little set of beads there....it will be re-stocked soon, I promise!

Well, that is all I have on updates for now....I will post all the new links once I am up and fully running...please check back :)

Thanks to all who came out yesterday!! It was really great seeing everyone! I will have new stuff to post soon and will get my etsy shop back up and running within the next day or so (after I sort out my inventory).
I will be busy creating all this week getting ready for another show next Sunday and will also make a decision on when to have a show at my house in December....I am thinking about the weekend of the 5th.

Oh my goodness I have been a terrible blogger!! Lets see...where to begin. I have had one show since my last post and have been preparing for another one on Nov 17th. I have tons of beads to list, just trying to find the time to take pictures and get them up...please don't give up on me, I will get to it!!! Last weekend Scott and I went to our friends Halloween party...we had a terrific time!! This weekend we are headed to Vegas for a Vascular conference!! It should be lots of fun and hopefully we will get in some shows! My next "free" weekend will be Halloween and hopefully I will have everything listed by then!
Promise to update you guys more often!!!
Here we were...prisoner's of love and matrimony....he was my "ball and chain" lol....we had a good time :)

I have been having a great time with different layering effects....these beads have a lot going on...they remind me of barnacles! I love the different colors too....fun, fun...what do ya think?

Oh...and here were my two helpers today! This is a Steeler's household and I do believe these two have officially declared war here with that scarf! Did I mention that Hailey will be 12 this Friday??? She's growing up so fast!

I picked up my baby from the airport yesterday!!! I'm so excited to have her back....she has been gone since June 14 spending the summer with grandparents and cousins. It has been a crazy busy week this week, which is why I have been absent....sorry!! I promise to have bead updates soon...well as soon as I get my butt to the torch anyway. I am also looking at the calendar for my next bead show. But for now, I'm hanging out with my little one...we have LOTS to catch up on and 2 fun and exciting weekends coming up! Her 12th birthday is next weekend!!! and we are having a girls only weekend in New York the weekend after that!!!
Today we are "back to school" shopping and she has informed me that there is a need for the addition of "bright orange" to her already colorful bedroom....hmmmm sounds perfect! Hailey has a a great eye for fun and funky design...I believe her words were "I need a pop color, mom"...she has the same addiction to HGTV that her mother does :)

It was a fast and furious 4 hours, but we had a great time!
The Bead Show yesterday was a huge success...I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Thanks to all for coming out and I look forward to the next event!

Well, I finally broke down and purchased a bead press to line my beads...and I must say that I LOVE it!!
I am just so excited!!! It's getting dark, so the pictures are not that great, but I just HAD to share these with you!!! Oh I hope you love them....they are my beads, but I think made Sassier!!! I have adorned them with handmade Sterling Silver and Copper bead caps and then lined them with Sterling Silver tubing!!!

Well, Wednesday night was a BLAST!! It was madness really....how much can you pack into 2 hours? ALOT apparently :) Thanks to everyone that showed up...it was a great evening! And WELCOME to all my new customers :) I hope this is the start of a long beady friendship :)

Well...I'm thrilled it's Friday!! Whew...what a week. I have one custom order to make and TONS of website updating to do....but that will have to wait until the morning.....tonight its just Mexican food and relaxing (probably getting to bed early too)!

They were especially made for my dear friend and amazing jewelry maker Kristen of MJM Jewelry Designs....I cannot wait to see what she creates with them! Things around here have been hectic and non-productive!!! Well...that's not entirely true. I did manage to get a new car last week....but creatively it has been a bust. My plan is to bead away today however because I have two bead shows coming up!!! The first is this Friday and then I have another next Thursday!! I need to make at least 200 beads by the end of this week...needless to say I need to get a move on!

Well...lets just say I went a little crazy with these.....they are almost like my disks, but have a little wider base....I call them Big Bottom Spirals LOL...With the wider bottom they sit a little further apart adding some interest when placed together. They are also great as spacers!

A New Bed and Bath and New Beads!!!

Here is our new bathroom and bedroom!! We are so excited how it turned out. I wish I had taken before pictures (but I had NO patience for my camera)...The bathroom used to have pinkish chocolate dark walls and pickled wood cabinets...didnt it turn out nice!!!

Here is our new bedroom!! The walls used to be dark burgundy and everything else was burgundy and gold....I love the new colors..it really softens the room :)

This first pic are of the beads from yesterday....I wasnt happy with the photos and I dont think you guys were impressed with them either...they are really beautiful beads and I am trying to capture them for you!

Here are the beads that I made on Thursday....hope you guys like them. I made more sets this morning that I will have posted either tonight or tomorrow. This top set is some funky disks with 3 matching rounds.

These 3 sets are made up of some abstract pebbles....they have great subtle irregular surfaces!

Battery woes and beads :)

Hello!! It seems I have not been able to stay on top of things for the past...what...3-4 months I would guess??? I hope all of you are still out there....sorry I have totally neglecting my blog and beads!!! I was able to make a few sets on Tuesday night and made 4 more sets tonight that I am excited about sharing with you all. I have been having camera issues....I love my camera, but it will not take "regular" batteries.....you have to buy those high power batteries that look like regular batteries but apparently have more "kick" to them. I have had the same 4 batteries now for about 2 years and well...they just wont keep a charge anymore....long story short, I bought new high power batteries, charged those babies up...and nothing....no power to my camera :( I'm not sure what is wrong, but I need to take it all to my trusty (but not close by) Ritz camera store and see if they can figure it out....I'm hoping it's just my charger.....here is the one problem with that theory though....I put the old batteries in the charger tonight....charged them till the green light came on....and they powered up my camera just long enough to take a few pictures of a set of beads I made for my dear friend Kristen (long enough for 3 pictures to be exact) grrrrrr...I'm so ready for everything to work like I want it to!!!

Well....anyway, here are the beads. I had to take the pictures indoors because it's dark outside. I hope you like them Kristen!!! I think they will go perfectly with your new beautiful sunflower set!

Have a great evening everyone....I promise to get more pictures up of the 4 sets I made tonight by Saturday (when I have daylight) even if I have to charge my batteries several times!!!!

I have wonderful news to start off the new year!!! My baby, Scott and I celebrated the New Year on the Waterfront at a hotel in DC....it was a wonderful time and they threw a great party!! A little after the ball dropped, Scott asked me to marry him!!! I was so surprised and excited!!!! Sorry about the grainy picture...if I would have know what a memorable night it was going to be I would have brought my good camera.
We are planning on a destination wedding in one of our favorite spots in Mexico!! I hope all of you had a wonderful New Year...I have a feeling that 2009 is going to be spectacular!!!! I'm back in business with my beads and will post pictures soon....just wanted to share my exciting news :) :)

I am so sorry I have been "MIA" for the last several weeks!! It has been busy here, but I wanted to update everyone. I have not been at the torch now for over 2 weeks!!! I took a break and did not even realize it :) but I hope to be back at it by the weekend...
I decided to cancel my website.....I have a wonderful customer base here locally and I know you guys like to browse the site, but it's really not worth paying the monthly fees since I do not sell much through the site....you guys would rather catch me in person and really that works well, so why "fix" it right? I will still keep using etsy for my bead sets....just have to actually get to the torch and make new bead sets!! It's on my "to do" list, I promise :)

I'm still here :) It has been a busy week! Hailey had 3 teeth pulled yesterday (making room for braces). Poor baby....she's looking a little puny :(

I had a huge order of Sterling Silver stolen off my front porch this week :( I was pretty sick about it on Tuesday, but have chocked it up to a "loss" and am moving on!) I have also talked with UPS and made it very clear to them that NOTHING is to be left at my house if no one is home. I would rather the inconvenience of going there to pick up my packages.
I made a bunch of beads last night preparing for tonights show....I am hoping to get more made early this morning.

I finally was able to take pictures this morning!!! With the time change it is dark when I leave and dark when I get home so I have not been able to take pictures during the week! The weekend was fantastic, it just went by wayyyy too fast! I need to take pictures of the many new bracelet beads I have and get them posted here for all to see....with the time change I no longer get home in daylight :( I have to plan better and get up early to take pictures before I leave for work. Here is my newest set that is up on etsy. They are a set of 16 disks....they are made with clear with a ribbon of color around the edges then topped off with bumps of crystal clear for some sparkle...let me know what you think!

The show went really well last night and we had a great time! Thank you to everyone who came out! Hailey was my helper last night and had a wonderful time with the silent auction.....she kept coming back to inform me what "goodies" were there and what the highest bid currently was. lol! She ended up winning a huge stuffed dog (just what we needed...another stuffed animal :)). It was so much fun hanging out with Gwen, Shawna and Diane and really great meeting new friends! I am so glad they talked me into participating!

Here is the bottom of the ring as requested by Kristen. I curled the ends of 16G wire, hammered it flat and bent.....voilla......... what do you think? you know I'm terrible at wire work!

How fun are these crazy little cluster rings!!!! i got the idea from Poppi......putting these guys together was a little nerve racking, but in the process I came up with a great idea!!! I will be making a "minor" adjustment to my tiny beads and hopefully will have them put together soon to share with you all!! What do you think of my cluster rings???

Well, as if I did not have enough to do already!!! I started another website and it is up and running!!!
I sell lots of large hole beads and bracelets to the ladies at work and was trying to come up with a way that they could more readily get to my beads (rather than trying to track me down at work....not to mention I am hauling in all my beads everyday). I decided to put all my Sassy Beads and accessories into a website where they could do all their one stop shopping (rather than me loading up my etsy store with the add a bead stuff). I am still going to list beads on etsy, but only bead sets, not so much the large hole beads. I hope you guys like the site and feel free to give me some feedback...it is a work in progress!

Holy cow, how long has it been! I'm really sorry for the lack of postings (and lack of beads). Ever since my surgery I just didn't seem to "bounce back". Yesterday and today were the first days I have felt "normal"....whatever that means :)
I did get to the torch tonight! I made another set of hollows and a bunch of Pandora style beads for the ladies at work. They have been pounding at my door everyday wondering when the new beads were coming in.
I also plan to do some torching tomorrow night for etsy so check back to see what's new. I will post tonights beads tomorrow so you can see what I was up to. I hope everyone has a great night!

I actually got some torch time in last night and I am so excited about these sets!!! They are a tiny bit smaller than my usual beads which makes them perfect for so many things!!! I must tell ya, I am thrilled with how they came out and the color combinations!!! They measure approx 8x12mm. Hope you guys like them!
My plan is to get to the torch again today....be sure to check back tomorrow for more beads!

I have an order from Kristen that I need to get working on and I have some "sets" in mind that I want to do......I am so excited to get back at the torch and get productive! I am extremely bummed out that Hailey and I did not make it to Connecticut to see my dear friends Kristen and Ann :( I was really sure that I would feel better, but going back to work so soon and still having my bead show on Thursday night really did me in :( I did get a credit on my plane tickets though, so we will have to reschedule VERY SOON!!!!!

The bead show went well on Thursday!! I do have many beads to list in my esty shop and hope to get some pictures together this weekend and get them listed.....I will not list them all since there is more than 150 beads, but I will get a good variety up I promise!

I also plan to really get back to work on bead sets for my etsy shop. I got a beautiful brand new kiln in this week which means I will no longer be limited in my bead making sessions!!!!!! With one kiln I would make beads for a few hours....need a break and start the soaking and shut down of my kiln....this meant it would be anywhere from 5-7 hours before I could start making beads again! Now with two kilns, I can make beads......stop and do other things around the house or run errands....and then WHENEVER I want start up a new bead making session because I have a kiln just sitting there empty ready to go! My only limitation will be mandrels (and I have a TON of those)!!!! I am sooooo excited about being able to increase my production this way!

I am hoping to feel better and maybe make some beads today....don't really know yet if that will happen because right now I just want to hide under the covers. Please check back soon for my etsy shop to come back to "life"!! Thanks for checking in!

Time Winding Down..... and a small bump in the road

Only one more day before my bead show!!! I promise to post everything that does not sell...I have been a mad woman getting ready for it! This weekend my daughter and I are off to beautiful Connecticut to hang out with Kristen (of MJM Jewelry Designs), Ann and the family!!!! I am really really excited!
I promise to be a better blogger and list more beads on etsy upon my return!

As for the "bump in the road" I had unexpected surgery yesterday.....I wont get into ALL the gory details, but I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured, but when I ruptured it also broke a blood vessel so I was bleeding into my abdomen. NO fun at all, but my Doctor is the best and was able to put me back together. I am at home recovering today and already feeling soooo much better than I did yesterday! Kristen, I am DEFINITELY still coming this weekend with Hailey....I will be my old self by then for sure, maybe just moving a little slower :) I cant wait to see you guys and wouldn't miss it for the world!

Believe it or not I have been busy making beads! The first 2 sets of disks are now up on etsy, but all the others are for an upcoming bead show that is in a couple of weeks! I made about 44 more beads tonight for the show and will share pictures of them soon! I am not putting the bead show beads up on etsy, but promise to put up what is left over after the show. A little productive....

It's been yet another busy week here in beautiful Maryland....I had not mentioned it yet, but I got a promotion at work and have been busy trying to figure out all that my supervisor does before she ditches me and throws me to the wolves here in a few weeks! It wont be the same around there without her :(
I have managed to make a few sets despite my hectic schedule though! I am looking forward to the weekend so I can get even more made up!
My dear friend Kristen has requested some fabulous fall color schemes too, so I hope to get to work on those soon....I also need to go through my glass stash and place an order for more colors too! Keep checking back to see the new stuff!

Finally new beads!! I hope you guys like them! The sets of 6 beads took longer to make than I originally thought they would, which is why they are priced more than my set of 6 disks...if you would like them in a different color, just let me know. I will be making more of these today!!!

Whew.....it's been busy

Holy Cow has it been busy!!! I feel like I am just treading water here :( Well....here are a few beads just to let you all know that I have not fallen off the face of the earth! My first week back at work has been incredibly busy...not to mention school started this week and we have all been adjusting to that! I hope all of you are doing well! I promise to get back to the torch again at a regular basis! I have sooooo many people emailing me about orders they want (which is WONDERFUL)...I promise to get to work on all of those and hopefully have new stuff up too! We had such a wonderful time in beautiful Mexico!!! We met my mom and dad there and celebrated Hailey's Birthday!! I am back at the torch and making new beads....will hopefully have them posted tomorrow on the next day, depending on if I can get them photographed :)

On Vacation

I will be out of town from Wednesday August 20th until late Sunday August 24th. All items purchased after Tuesday will be shipped first thing Monday when I get back!

I am taking my Birthday girl to Mexico for a quick get away with my family! My parents are meeting us down there and it ought to be alot of fun!

I will get back to work on Monday when I get back and have a new batch of beads up hopefully by Monday evening (then I have to go back to my "real" job on Tuesday).

I hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend. I might be able to get on the internet there...if I do, I will send out a hello!

Kristen, take care of yourself and I will definitely have a margarita (or two) just for you!

I have been working on orders this morning (despite how beautiful it is outside) :) :)

I was really hoping to jump right back in to bead making since my Echo boards are finally over (yay), but I have really been slacking :( I think I really needed the mental break and am glad to say that it felt really good sitting at the torch today! I will hopefully have those orders and a few additional items posted this evening as soon as the kiln cools down and I get some pictures of the new beads. I only worked with boro today, so the orders for the wine stoppers have not been completed yet, but I am hoping to make those beauties tonight!

A quick update on my plans for the coming week.
My sweet little munchkin, Hailey is coming home tomorrow from her fun summer vacation with grandma!!! We are running away to Mexico on Wednesday for her Birthday (big # 11) and we will be back next Sunday. (I know, I know....I finally get back into making beads and now I'm running off to lay on the beach for 5 days.....again...hang in here with me please :) :))
All orders placed after Tuesday will be shipped out on Monday the 24th!! Just think of the fabulous inspiration I will get from that fun Mexican atmosphere and beautiful Caribbean water :) :)

Back on Track!

Well, I am FINALLY finished with my exams for my Cardiac Sonographer Registry!!!!! Yay!!! This means I can focus once again on making beads!!! It has been a really intense and stressful couple of weeks for me while I prepared for these exams. I am so relieved and excited that they are over!!
I am so sorry for my absence and the lack of new beads. Thank you for hanging in here with me!!!
We are out of town this weekend, but starting Monday I will be back on track with new and fun Sassy Beads!!!

Has it really been a week?

So sorry I have been missing in action for an entire week! I did manage to make a few beads this morning and have posted them here. I made it through the first test last week and I have one more coming up this next week, so bear with me. I am supposed to be studying right now, but can't seem to muster up the energy or discipline to get my booty in gear....so instead I will share my latest beads with you! I am hoping to get to the torch again either tonight or tomorrow! I promise to post again soon....just one more week and this will all be behind me!

Silver Wrap

Borosilicate glass has silver and other metals already embedded within it (which is how you get all the pretty colors), but I wondered how it would look if I added some silver leaf to it and just loved the effects I got. What do you think?

Quiet Night

Well, it has been a hectic work week and I am beat! I am so glad it is Friday tomorrow!!! Tonight I wish I could say I am going to make beads, but I can't. I am going to muster up every bit of energy in me to make myself study for my Echo boards! My first of 2 exams is less than 2 weeks away and I need to get my booty in gear. I have not taken an ultrasound registry since 2001 when I took my vascular boards and boy am I rusty. I know the kind of dedication and studying it takes to pass those lengthy exams and I am starting to feel the pressure. (I am getting too old to have to take new tests!) Not to worry though. I will be making beads definitely this weekend and maybe even get in some torch time tomorrow night! So check back, because I promise to post new beads as soon as they are made! Oh...and don't forget....THESE beads are up for grabs!! The drawing will be this Saturday night, so don't forget to post away to get your entry in!

Sorry it has been a few days since my last post! I made beads Saturday, but didn't get them up on the blog because Sunday we were out almost the ENTIRE day riding our motorcycles! We had such a great time riding around beautiful country roads near where we live! The weather was perfect! I was off today and had time to make some new beads! Here is most of them! Hope everyone is having a great evening!

I love the iridescent sparkle in this bead!! That glass is just beautiful..it reminds me of peacock feathers!

Well, here are the beads I added to the shop last night! The first pair is a custom order for Kristen and Ann!! I love the bubble large hole beads!!! They have so much depth to them and the patterns are really magnified beneath the crystal clear! I love how they turned out!!

There are a couple of lovely ladies at my job that are obsessed about the Euro add a bead bracelets who have been hounding me to make more large hole beads. Their bracelets are absolutely beautiful and are different every day because they have soooo many beads and they change them out depending on what they are wearing. Well, I was looking at my co-worker's bracelet and fell in love with one of her sterling silver beads that is a spiral and thought....that would be WAY cooler in glass! Let's just say I got a little carried away!!! I made so many spirals last night...I did not even take pictures of them all !!! Here are a few of them (oh and some funky disks too). I am off to torch for a while....I have a few custom orders to make and also a few ideas in my head :) Hope you guys are having a wonderful Friday!!!

Beads Beads!!

Well, I managed to make some beads last night, but let me tell you it wasn't easy!! I was working on my 3rd bead when I ran out of propane (dangit!!) I unhooked my tank...ran up to the store and exchanged it, got back home hooked it up and the darn thing wasnt working. I had a small panic attack thinking - holy cow either my torch or my regulator is not working!!! Then thought maybe it was the tank. Hmmmm....lets try the BBQ tank (the forbidden tank - the one NOT to use...even in an emergency). While I was pulling off the grill cover...I notice wasps coming out from under the grill!!!! (I am unreasonably TERRIFIED of bees and wasps) They were angry and I was petrified!!! After running and screaming back into the house I tried to figure out how exactly I was gonna get that tank. There were beads to be made and I had to figure out why the other tank wasn't working (I'm a determined bead maker). I got the flying insect spray, put on extra clothing hiding most of my bare skin and went on the counter attack! Thank heavens that that spray goes long distances!!! I started spraying the moment I went outside...just in case they saw me coming....and doused the entire underside of the grill (and half of the deck). There was a huge yellow jacket nest under there...right by where the hose attaches to the tank!!! I swapped out the tanks and yep, the forbidden BBQ tank worked (but it was almost empty)....so I went back to the store and got a new tank and after 1 hour of fooling around was finally back at the torch. Later, Scott called from work and I told him about the tanks and the wasps....he could not believe I went after the wasps and said "well that confirms it....you are definitely the Crazy Bead Lady" So, I hope you like these beads...because boy did I go through great lengths to make them!!!

Yay!!! More beads!!! I got in a huge order of glass and made some new beads!! There are several colors that I have never tried before, and so far I LOVE them!!! Really cool effects!!! You see them best on the disks....there are little stripes!

Copper Mesh

I made some HUGE abstract focal beads with copper mesh deeply in bedded in them. Let me know what you think. These guys are big and took a LONG time to create. The copper deeply encased in the clear creates a kind of "window" that really gives the beads depth. I love the contrast of the metal and the glass, and they were really fun to make! (but really HOT sitting at the torch for that long). Would love to hear your input!! Hope your having a great day!

We Have A Winner!!!

Well....the drawing has occurred....it was a very formal event. Many names (41 to be exact) were carefully placed in the "official" cereal bowl and while there was a drum roll, Scott picked out a name. We really should not be surprised as to who was picked....Scott and I actually both laughed once he unfolded the paper because we had just been commenting on her efforts. Our winner tonight is the one and only Kristen Latimer! We can all agree that she put up a tough fight. Congratulations my dear friend!! I will get these hard earned beads out to you ASAP! We can all learn something from Kristen's dedication to her plight :)

Picture Glitch Fixed!!!

Whew Hew!!! They fixed the picture glitch! Here are the goodies I worked on this morning! I am thinking about pulling out my electroforming kit and adding some copper to my beads! Let me know what you think. It is a very cool effect mixing the metal with the glass. I wonder if I remember how to work that....hmmm
